A person with Alzheimer’s still needs to have a sense of purpose and self-worth. Although much is lost, much remains. The next time you are about to brush someone’s hair or bring their dishes to the kitchen sink, start out by saying; “Can you help me with this?” A gesture along with the question might be all it takes.

There are so many simple activities of daily living a person with Dementia can still participate with. We all know this is going to take time and it’s easier to do it yourself. But what a difference you will make when you promote and witness the persons pride, pleasure and purpose. #DementiaTipThursday
